Opening of bookings

How does the system work?

In the interest of fairness to all outdoor enthusiasts, Sépaq has chosen to open bookings for its products and services at different periods throughout the year. While it's possible to pounce on last-minute stays or activities at our destinations, it's important to remember that the most coveted products are snapped up quickly, as soon as bookings are launched.

How do you sort it all out? Take a look at our upcoming booking openings and lay claim to the stay or activity of your dreams, on the dates that suit you best.

Virtual waiting room

Online booking

In order to offer you the best possible shopping experience, we’re setting up a virtual waiting room for the opening of bookings. Among other things, this waiting room will facilitate your transactions, while respecting your order of priority during busy periods on our transactional website.

A few minutes before the launch of each booking time slot, you'll be able to access our virtual waiting room. When it opens, you'll be redirected to the queue and automatically assigned a random place in line.

In turn, you’ll be redirected to our transactional platform and have 12 minutes to complete your transaction and book a stay at one of our open destinations according to the booking launch schedule. If your allotted time expires, you’ll be automatically redirected to the virtual waiting room.

Booking rules

Don't forget that you can only make one booking per call or per transaction when bookings are opened.

Camping and ready-to-camp

Please note that when booking, the following rules apply:

  • Maximum of 3 campsites or ready-to-camp units
  • Same dates, whether overlapping or consecutive
  • Same establishment

Frequently asked questions

Why do bookings open so far in advance?

Sépaq has been opening bookings for accommodation rental units in advance (often almost a year ahead) for several years now. This practice is widespread in the tourism industry, and in the events and air transport sectors as well. It enables visitors to book the equivalent accommodation for the following year as soon as their stay is over.

Will there be any stays or activities left if I don't snap them up as soon as the booking period opens?

Yes, because when the booking period opens, it's mainly weekends, more lengthy holiday periods, and Québec’s construction weeks that are booked first. This means that many stays are still available in the calendar for those who don't yet know their vacation dates.

That said, in general, even without knowing their vacation dates for the following year, people do know whether they'll be at work on weekends or during more lengthy holiday periods. This makes it easy to plan getaways, even when bookings first open.

What’s the booking procedure at the time of the launch?

For most launchings, bookings can be made online or by calling our Customer Relations Centre at 1-800-665-6527. For certain openings, such as huts and long-distance hiking circuits, canoe-camping stays, and bear-hunting packages, bookings can only be made by telephone at 1-800-665-6527. Please note that this information is always provided with details of the next opening of bookings.

In the interest of fairness and accessibility for everyone, no reservations may be made at service points or at the establishments on the booking launching day.

Can I spread out my payments when booking?

Yes, it’s possible to spread your payments over a period of more than 90 days for bookings of $500 or more. This means you can pay in equal installments without a penny of interest. Certain conditions apply. Please contact our advisors at 1-800-665-6527 for details.

Why is there a limit to the number of products I can book per transaction at the opening of bookings?

The number of products that can be booked per transaction at the opening of bookings is limited to ensure that as many people as possible have access to the offer. This prevents the most coveted choices from being monopolized by a small number of people.

Why set up a waiting room for online bookings?

The aim of the waiting room is to give everyone a fair chance to access the products available at the most popular destinations and on the most coveted dates. It also ensures traffic management on our website to promote a pleasant shopping experience.

Why is there a maximum time limit for online transactions when the waiting room is in place?

As booking openings are very busy periods on our website, we want to offer as many people as possible the opportunity to book a stay or an activity. So we have to limit the time allotted to the purchase in order to enable a fluid turnover in the transactional section of our website.

Why aren't some of Sépaq's products and services listed on the booking opening schedule?

We should point out that some products and services can be booked continuously (for example, lodge or hotel stays at Auberge de montagne des Chic-Chocs, Gîte du Mont Albert, and Station touristique Duchesnay), while others can only be booked at our destinations (for example, equipment rentals in summer). Some products are also offered with priority booking to previous customers (for example, hunting stays at Sépaq Anticosti). These products and services are therefore not officially open for booking.
