Park Experience

Welcome to the Land of Floating Gardens

Plaisance: the name evokes a pleasant and gentle landscape broken by bays, islands, peninsulas and multi-coloured carpets of floating grasses. In spring, Plaisance puts on a dazzling performance starring thousands of Canada Geese. All summer long, it's a paradise for ducks, herons, ospreys, and dozens of other species. It's also the Ottawa River's soft breeze, making the tall grasses bend and toss across Petite Presqu'île near the campground. Parc national de Plaisance: Your discovery of the summer.

Discover the Park Through Interpretation

Parc national de Plaisance has the potential to inspire wonder! And the best way is to participate in ourdiscovery activities (in French only). Through the interpretation of natural and cultural heritage, you’ll learn more about the park and the importance of protecting it.

Among the riches we wish to share are the park’s most fascinating attractions:

  • Wetlands
  • Mysterious turtles
  • Human history of the area (from prehistory to today)

To guide us in developing our discovery activities, all the parks have an education plan.

Discovery and Visitors Centre

During your time at the park, don’t miss a visit to the Discovery and Visitors Centre, where you’ll find a permanent exhibition on the park’s main natural and human riches – an essential stop before heading out to explore the area. There is also a reception and rental counter, a Boutique Nature store and a place to relax, either indoors or on an outdoor terrace.

Did you know?

New: Sentier de la Carrière Trail

The park now has a cycling path between the Thurso sector and the Presqu’îles sector. Sentier de la Carrière, a 4-km trail, leads to a forest sector of the park that was inaccessible to visitors until now. This magnificent and exotic trail offers a view of the old quarry and a rest area featuring tables and benches made of stones found on the site. There’s a 50 m x 70 m Canada Goose “hiding” here…Can you find it?
