Parc de la Chute-Montmorency during winter

The Manoir is magical in winter time, and the same is true for Montmorency Falls. In very cold weather, the fine splashes projected by the waterfall eventually freeze and form, at the foot of the falls, the famous Sugarloaf, a very impressive natural ice cone.

Discover the site on foot or on snowshoes

Walking on the site during winter is really nice! Depending on snow conditions, trails will be accessible for walkers or snowshoeing buffs.

If you’re at the top of the falls, there are a number of trails where you can enjoy the fresh air, the peace and quiet, and the beauty of the park. The lengthy Promenade de la Falaise (cliffside boardwalk), going all the way to the suspension bridge, is cleared of snow during the winter season. You can also take Cottage trail, cross the suspension bridge, and follow the river thanks to Résurgences trail, a well-kept secret for the locals.

Someting new! A part of the west side of the lower part of the watefall is now open during winter. In the distance, you might even see some climbers, as the trail runs along the wall where ice climbing is practiced. A great spectacle guaranteed!

For safety reasons, the east side at the foot of the falls, including Promenade de la Chute (waterfall boardwalk) and the panoramic staircase, isn’t accessible during winter. Venturing directly on the Sugarloaf is also strictly forbidden.
