Gaspésie’s peaks
Get off the beaten path
For real snow enthusiasts or less experienced outdoor enthusiasts looking for new winter experiences, here's your chance to discover the fascinating secrets of the majestic Chic-Chocs mountains!

An outing in caribou country
Parc national de la Gaspésie applies a policy of proactive territorial management in order to respect the measures to protect the mountain caribou established by the Québec government. Thus, access to certain sectors may be restricted during winter.
Instructions to be followed
It is recommended to follow these few guidelines to avoid, as much as possible, interfering with caribou activities.
Activities
In this enchanting environment where snow conditions are one of a kind, winter enthusiasts will have a blast! After enjoying a vast array of activities, you’ll head home with memories to cherish forever.
High-road skiing
You can practice this activity in many off-trail zones, featuring snow fields and glades. Here, there's no mechanized lifts! But your efforts will be rewarded with a powder quality out of the ordinary.
Depending on your destination and your level of physical fitness, it takes, on average, a little less than an hour for each of these climbs. The difference in elevation varies between 100 and 350 m. Also, get more information about snow conditions and avalanche risks.
Snowshoeing
Against the backdrop of a winter wonderland, snowshoe buffs can enjoy 13 trails ranging in length from 1.7 to 18 km in the Mont-Albert sector of Parc national de la Gaspésie and on the grounds of Réserve faunique des Chic-Chocs.
Discover also the off-trail zone in the Mont-Ernest-Laforce sector.
Cross-country skiing and backcountry skiing
Parc national de la Gaspésie also offers 3 trails of groomed cross-country ski trails. The Mont-Albert sector receives over 3 m of snow annually. It is well-distributed between mid-December and mid-March, making for excellent snow conditions all winter long.
Backcountry skiing enthusiasts will also find something to suit them, thanks to a range of short hikes and long hikes with overnight stays in huts.
Mountain school
The ultimate snowy experience
The Mountain School offers the very best tools to answer the call of the snow-covered peaks! On site, you’ll find information to plan your day, while being able to exchange tips with other skiers in a spirit of sharing and discovery. Guided activities are also offered to help you explore the snow-covered trails:
Don't have any equipment? No problem, you can rent everything here: high-road skis, snowshoes, backcountry skis, cross-country skis, avalanche safety kits, and more.
Accommodations
Be among the first to hit the trails! A wide range of accommodation options – from comfortable cabins to rooms in a luxurious hotel, lodge, or inn, to an isolated hut in the forest – will enable you to sleep a few steps from the trails, providing easy access to the most beautiful peaks of the territory.
