Education
Our organization believes in the importance of sharing its knowledge and expertise with the community. This vision is expressed in a number of ways, notably through Sépaq’s discovery and interpretation activities offered on our territories, the guidance and advice given to visitors, and our wide range of activities available to students and youth groups across the province.
Concrete action at ground level
Sépaq is responsible for the conservation of a significant part of Québec's natural and cultural heritage: rare species, special habitats, landscapes of great beauty, and witnesses to human and planetary history. Through the education component of its mission, Sépaq enables visitors to appreciate their collective importance.
Interpreting to give meaning
Our territories are teeming with complex phenomena that touch on different fields such as biodiversity, history, archaeology, palaeontology, and astronomy. To enrich the visitor experience and bring out the meaning of the surrounding natural and cultural elements, park wardens and naturalists demystify these phenomena through a variety of activities: games, talks, theatre, guided hikes – there’s no shortage of choice!
Learning outside
Our discovery activities sometimes feel like mini-training courses for our visitors and for Québec schoolchildren, because they're fun, based on experimentation, and offered in an environment conducive to learning. It's a chance to learn how to canoe, read the constellations, identify birds, spot fossils, or even distinguish different types of plant life!
Introducing new generations to their environment
The benefits of nature seem obvious these days. But do we really take care of our natural world? Through playful activities, the upcoming generations of children are encouraged to become aware of the richness that surrounds them. It's an effective and enjoyable way of getting them to identify the small things they can do to look after nature.
Working together to find solutions
Many environmental issues extend beyond our borders. These include water quality, invasive alien species, climate change, and wildlife movements. In many regions, Sépaq is called upon to work with other stakeholders to find solutions to common conservation issues.
Discovery activities
A different way to see the national parks
Discovery activities are the best way to enhance your visit to one of our national parks. Sépaq's park wardens and naturalists are experts in their field, and through these activities they show you nature in a whole new light. Whether in the form of a game, rally, talk, theatrical activity, or guided hike, there's something for everyone, young and old alike.

School activities
A huge playground for the province's students
Sépaq offers teachers an array of activities specially designed for primary and secondary school students, many of which meet the requirements of the Québec Education Program (QEP). Students can take part in activities on biodiversity and history, or enjoy outdoor activities. The aim is to be in yearly contact with our young people to develop their interest in protected territories and biodiversity and to help them establish a link with nature and its benefits.
