Small gestures have a big impact

When you visit our territories, adopting simple gestures that respect the world of nature that surrounds you can make all the difference to the preservation of our territories.

  1. Respect trail markings to avoid damaging plant regeneration or disturbing sensitive zones for wildlife, such as nesting sites. Adopt this policy in summer and winter alike!
  2. Be vigilant with your garbage disposal by using the designated areas or taking your litter back with you. This simple gesture will help preserve the natural balance of the ecosystem... and ensure that future visitors will have just as pleasant an experience in nature as you did!
  3. Leaving space for the animals is the best way to avoid disturbing their activities. This prevents them from modifying their behavior in the presence of humans, which could spur them to take further risks at their peril.
  4. Refraining from feeding the animals is essential if they are to retain their ability to provide for themselves in the wild and maintain a certain distrust of humans. This keeps them away from the more incident-prone developed areas.
  5. Putting supplies in a safe place, out of the line of sight – and out the range of smell – of the animals, means that they don't have to stay for long periods in the vicinity of the accommodations, which otherwise could mean having to relocate them.

The Leave No Trace program

For outdoor activities that respect nature

A Canadian version of the popular American Leave No Trace program, this code of ethics for outdoor activities suggests behaviours to adopt in the exercise of your activities, so as to leave natural environments as attractive as they were when you arrived, or even more so.

Take the time to read the seven principles of Leave No Trace Canada, and the next time you're out in the great outdoors, think about the potential impact of your actions.
